The Mysteriously Unnamed Blog

Well, hello there! I am thinking about starting a new history/writing blog that will incorporate the weird Victorian stuff I love but also include my adventures in writing my mystery novel (now back to the title The Black Mirror, for now) - which is shaping up to be, of all things, a linked-stories novel.

Here's the thing, though: the linked stories are (some of them) based on several of the posts here in the Dime Museum...all of which I will try to explain over there. Only - Over There does not exist yet. And I am going to be spectacularly busy IRL until the end of next week, actually.

Oh, and I don't have a good name for this new blog yet. And you know how it is, with blogs or novels or stories, you really do have to have just the right title. I was thinking of calling it The Mystery Machine (some of you know that I was very excited about this blog title awhile back) - but I suspect that people will think it is a Scooby Doo blog and be confused and/or annoyed.

And when I do find a good name - and when it is up and running - I will let you know. The ads are from The Century (1889), link here for larger version. It says that G.A. McBride wrote 129 words in a minute, blindfolded, on the Caligraph - this is just what I need!

I like The Mystery Machine, but I do think a few people might think it's a Scooby Doo site.

How about The Mystery of...
and incorporate that into the title of each post ie The Mystery of The Missing Will, etc.
Or Enigmas Abound ?

I think your idea for the new blog is great and I look forward to reading it whatever you end up calling it :)

I love this idea, sounds great!

Agree that the Mystery Machine is a good name but it does make me think of the Scooby van.

Isn't funny how content is never the problem but a name always makes the blog. lol I like the Black Mirror or the Mystery Mirror, or Black Mystery Mirror.

Don't forget to post your award, and pass it along.

If you want to sell your book after it's finished wouldn't having on a blog be a negative thing? I mean, if people can read it here free...?

Curious. Also I guess I might wonder if people would read something as long as a novel on someone's blog?

Sandy - Those are good points, and I've been thinking about all that...A book would get into much more juicy detail than the posts on my blog - which I've always seen as 'placeholders' really - so you'd be getting something different. Plus I have plenty of stories I have NOT published, and am saving ;)
